As you know, there is a huge need for discipleship here among the youth. Right now, there are about 25 youth that consistently come to youth group on Sunday mornings. That is up from about 8-10 when we first arrived in February 2006! So we are so thankful to the Lord for the growth of our group. We regularly pray for conversion growth, and for our youth to be bold in sharing the gospel with their friends. We really want to take a personal interest in the lives of each of our students. We frequently ponder how large youth groups of 100+ students are discipled. We are busy with just 25! We are so encouraged by some of these students, and a little discouraged by others to be honest.
As we move into summer camp season (they’re right around the corner!), we are already looking ahead to how we will do follow-up with the students after camps. Our second camp (July 23-28) is evangelistic and many of our students are bringing their unbelieving friends. We will go camping in the mountains of southern Albania for one week! This will be real camping – in tents and sleeping bags, no plumbing, no electricity (which means so mp3 players or cell phones!), etc. None of the students have ever done anything like this before, and we are excited to be with them in God’s creation for a whole week without any distractions. Please pray for the team from Grace Church of DuPage as they make final preparations and arrive on July 21. And pray for our youth group students to be bold in speaking and living the Gospel for their friends during camp!
