On Wednesday the 28th of November we flew to Milan and then rented some cars and drove through the Alps in northern Italy into Geneva, Switzerland, we spent the night in Switzerland. The next morning we spent the day with a friend who is a missionary in Geneva, he gave us the “Reformation Tour.” We went to John Calvin’s Church and the chapel where he taught, as well as the Reformation Wall and the Reformation Museum. We got special permission to stand in Calvin’s pulpit, pretty sweet stuff. At the Reformation Wall, I as well as the other guys got to look at and hold an original Geneva Bible that our friend who lives there had. This Bible would have been one of the first to reach American soil. There are only two in America today. John MacArthur has one of them.
After that we went to France and had dinner and spent the night, the next day we did a little Christmas shopping and headed back to Milan to catch a flight back to Tirana.
John Calvin was a fighter for truth, a man who stood up for the gospel in a bloodthirsty time in Christian history. Many died during the reformation for the sake of the truth, many families torn apart all for the sake of the Cross of Christ. However even in the midst of that reality, the Truth of God and His Word far out weigh any of those sufferings. The question is perhaps, do we truly believe that in our own life if such sufferings were to come our way?
