Fresh Air

This afternoon we drove up into the mountains to some old castle ruins. Kreshnik showed us the road that we tried to find in vain last week by ourselves. It was a relatively small castle, that contains - in good Albanian fashion - a coffee bar and quaint little restaurant. It sits high on the tippy-top of the mountain and gives a spectacular view all around. Silly me, I did remember to bring the camera along with me, but forgot to make sure their was a memory card inside the camera, so here are some poor quality pictures taken with my phone. Oh well.

Mosque on the way there:

No mullets allowed in this little village! (Even though we saw someone who had apparently been growing one for what looked like 10 years.) Just kidding...this sign indicates that we were leaving the little village of "Mullet" =)

You can barely see the castle on the top of the mountain... wish my phone had a zoom option...

Walking up...

Still walking up...

The "suburbs" of Tirana:

...and still walking up...

Nuthin but sky! It was amazing - no pollution, no smog, no dust...just CLEAN, FRESH AIR.

Kreshnik standing on the castle wall:

You can't tell in the picture, but one of the sheep only had three legs. We were imagining how that came to be...

The hillsides all around us were covered with very, very old wrinkled, knotted, and twisted olive trees. Who knows how long they've been growing. But they are beautiful and huge:
